Forage Sample Analysis
Ensure Your Herd is Eating the Best
Our team can help you discover if you're buying the correct hay for your livestock with a forage sample analysis. We'll help you identify how to best use your hay stocks to promote lactation, improve digestion, and increase your overall yield.
How Much Hay Do We Need to Test Your Forage?
We'll need at least 20 samples from each lot of hay for an accurate and reliable forage test. Please use a forage probe and extract your samples using the following guidelines:
Once you've extracted your samples, please mix them and seal them inside labeled plastic bags.
- Extract from the centers of square bales and the rounded edges of round bales
- Forage samples should come from 12-18 inches within the sampled bale
- Extract from a different location on each bale
Once you've extracted your samples, please mix them and seal them inside labeled plastic bags.
Where to Bring Your Samples
Our Yakima location handles all forage samples. Once you've brought in your samples, our team will ship them to the appropriate labs and provide you with a breakdown of the results once the lab has finished processing.
We're excited to help you develop a happy and healthy herd!
Forage sample analysis involves taking core samples from the baled forage to see if anything bad has begun to grow.
Both the Yakima and Ellensburg locations offer forage sample analysis
Forage sample analysis often takes 4-6 weeks for a completed test.
Forage is often gathered and stored to improve the diet of live stock. Forage sample analysis ensures that the food you're using is safe for your livestock to eat.
