Grainland Select® brings the natural goodness of grain to your animals. Grain is an original “natural food,” a vital source of the nutrients animals need for life.  Oat grain is good dietetic food for young ruminants because of its high hull and fiber content. It is recommended that a small quantity be fed during the suckling period to habituate young ruminants with the consumption of forages and develop their rumen.

Feeding Instructions:
Feed controlled amounts as an energy supplement to livestock with access to hay or pasture. Do not feed free-choice. This feed has not been fortified; a species-specific vitamin and mineral supplement is recommended. Always provide forage, fresh, clean water and a source of salt.

Ruminant meat and bone free.

  • Oats is an ideal grain for starting cattle on feed because of its high hull and fiber content. Many experienced cattlemen prefer to start weaned calves on oats as the only or major grain, gradually shifting over to higher-energy grains as the animals become adapted to grain consumption.
  • Steam rolled oats are excellent for cattle, especially calves, because you get all the protein and fat, but far less fiber...and they are superior for gut health and digestibility.
  • Feeding programs for club calves and junior steer projects will often include oats as a means of adding energy to the diet with a lower potential for bloat and acidosis as compared to corn-based diets, although weight gain will be reduced.
